1941:
I would be flying over Europe in my new Spitfire. I am on my way to the battle field and a bullet whizzes past my cockpit.I look back and see a Luftwaffe rite on my tail. I pull back and the Luftwaffe fly's rite past me and I open fire. The first bullet misses but the other hits it rite in the middle of the left engine. It starts descending slowly so I fire a two missiles, one misses and the other gets it rite in the back side. It starts plummeting to the ground. Five seconds later I hear an explosion.
I am coming towards the battle field with my RAF squadron and the enemy planes are just up ahead. As we get closer I give permission to fire and the front line of the Axis falls away. We keep firing until they are so close we have to pull up and turn around.
Most of them have been shot down but there are still some left and they seem to be the leaders of the bunch. We fought until the end of the day and we lost two men.
When we got back to headquarters the Air Chief Marshall congratulated us on our mission and said "Gear up for the next mission, you have forty winks and then your back in the air...
