Maths Review

For maths this year the hard thing was learning how to tell the time but I got it in the end. I enjoyed looking at my pre and post tests and seeing what I have improved in and what I have not. Next year I am looking forward to learning new maths. IXL has helped me a lot with my learning, and just so you know I have spent nine hours and fifty-five minute's on it!

High jump video

High jump is hard because you have to try and jump over a pole and not hit it. First we practised jumping over a big elastic band and when our teacher thought we were ready we got to jump over the pole. When I took my first go I landed on my back but you have to land on your feet.

Outside Gallery Art

In stead of doing iDrive the Outside Gallery Impact art group did murals. We are doing murals for all of our teams which are Moana the sea, Whenua the land, Whetu the stars and Marama the moon. Charlie, Cooper and I are doing Moana the sea. The feature is Maori designs. We had an artist come in and help us draw our designs on the wood. When she left we went over the lines with vivid. In the next impact session we painted the sea. I drew the pastern's on the whales and the waka. I used two of the five learning powers, Resilience and Creativity.







       

iDrive PMI

Positives

I really liked to have the choice on what activity I could do and not having the teacher choosing an activity for all of the class. I liked Carpentry because I learned how to hammer a nail into a piece of wood. I liked lego because I got to make whatever I wanted and be part of a group working on a bigger creation.

Minuses

I didn't like hitting my thumb with the hammer because it really hurt. There's not really any Minuses.

Interesting

The Interesting thing was that I was playing and learning at the same time and getting to know my friends strengths and weaknesses. I mostly created with my friends so I think I should create with different people so I get to know other people too.

Labour Day

Labour day is on the fourth Monday of October. Labour day celebrates the eight hour day movement. Which meant eight hours of work, eight hours of recreation and eight hours of rest. A carpenter called Samuel Parnell fought for the eight hour working day. The first Labour day was celebrated in 1890. Labour day used to be on the second Wednesday in October but in 1910 it was moved to the fourth Monday of October.   

My holiday recount

Week one

On Monday in the first week of the school holidays my and my family and I went to the warehouse' and my mum and dad go me an early birthday present. It was a new bike!

When we got home we had some lunch and then me and my dad put the bike together. It was really easy because there were only five steps to follow.

When we finished putting it together I rode for about half an hour up and down our street before coming back home. It has seven gears and three cos.

Week two

On Wednesday in the second week of the school holidays my family and I went up to Auckland to see my auntie de.On the way to her house we stopped at New Lynn to get me a haircut.

That night after dinner my sister, cousin, mum and I hopped into my auntie’s spa. It was really warm.

The next day we went to a really cool playground. It had a really twirly slide. My sister, cousin and I played tag and I was in. (I went easy on them because there only five).

On friday we went to the zoo. When we got to the kiwi I spotted two roaming around in the middle of the enclosure.

That afternoon we started to pack our bags to head home. About five minutes later me said goodbye and started our journey back to ngatea.

iDrive

This week for iDrive I did Lego with Fraser, Cc's and Leon. Fraser made tankbot and a coast guard boat. Tankbot re-fuels cars, boats and plains. Cc's made fanbot. Fanbot cools down our radioactive plant. I made a police boat that can drive on land. Leon made a boat that caries electricity and water tanks. We all used creativity to create our peace's, and resilience because all of us made and demolished.






 

Term 3 reflection

iDrive week 8

This week for iDrive Joshua, Fraser, Callum, Noah, Daniel, Cooper, Marcus and I did Lego. At first I was making a power boat, but then I didn't like it so I came up with an idea that we could make some construction site cars. I made a bull dozer with a huge engine. Cooper, Marcus and Dilyn made the construction site. Fraser and Callum made a rescue-vehicle. Noah made a dump truck. Daniel made a car/ plane/ boat and shark bot 2015. Joshua made a robot with a gun. Here's a picture.

  

Princess Dieana

Princess Diana was the princess of Wales. She was born the first of July 1961 and died 31 of August 1997 aged 36. Before she was a Princess her name was Lady Diana Spencer. She has two kids Prince William and Prince Harry. She was married to Prince Charles who is first in line for the English throne. She died in a car crash because she was being chased by paparazzi. The driver lost control of the car and crashed under a bridge. Her burial was the 6 of September 1997 9:08 in London. She is remembered by many people not to be just a Princess but just a normal person. ( Because some Princess's don't usually pick up kids that have a really bad sickness )    

What makes the ocean blue even though its clear?

Some people say the ocean gets it's blue colour from the way it absorbs the sunlight, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),but I think the sea gets its colour from the reflection off the sky's blue colour.

   

iDrive

This week for iDrive Fraser, Callum C and I did box modelling. At first we didn't agree with each other because I didn't want a bathroom and Fraser didn't agree on a one storey house. So we used our problem solving skills and sorted it out. It was a two storey house with the sitting room on the top floor and the kitchen and the garage on the bottom. When we show it to our class were going to trick them because the box has a flap on it so when we show them I will cary it in and Fraser and Callum C (aka CCs) will stand by the box I will lift the flap up and tadda they will see the inside.

      

IDrive

This week for I Drive the # team budgie care were making a new platform for the budgies. When we were transferring the the budgies from one cage from one cage to another they escaped. But when we used our problem-solving skills we cot them with Mrs Bees apron and put them back in the cage. After we got them in the cage we went out side and started building the platform. When we finished the platform we put it in the cage. When we got it in and put the top on it didn't fit so we took it out, put the birds in and kept thinking.
 

I Drive my street

This week I did play-dough for iDrive, and I made a snowman out of playdough. The blue and yellow play-dough was really sticky. We had wash it off with the scrubbing brush. It was fun when we had to pack up because I pretended to be incredible hulk.

My art recount

Last term we did lino-printing and I was in the bird group with miss s. Lino-printing is when you get a special peace of lino and draw a de-sine on a peace of paper and print it on your lino with a six b pencil. When you've printed it on your lino you go over it with a normal pencil. After you went over it pencil you get your carving tools and start carving. After you've carved out what you want you get a roller and roll ink on your lino. When you've rolled ink on you're lino you quickly print it on another peace of paper and roll it with a roller without ink on it roll and presto you've got a print.  

My holiday recount

In the holidays my family and I went  to my aunty's batch in Mangakino. When we got there, we had to wait 2 hours for my aunty to come because when she was half way there she noticed that she didn't have her keys for the bach so she had to go all the way back to Auckland. My sister was bursting for the toilet so it was good when she got there. The next day we went to Taupo and I saw the massive lake, on the way home we stopped at Huka falls. When we got back from Tapo my family and I had to go home.

Queen's birthday

1. The Queen was born at 2.40am on 21 April 1926 at 17 Burton Street in Mayfair, London. She was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

 Her mother's name is Angela and her father's name is Philip. We have a long weekend for the Queen's birthday. Her husband  was in hospital for a brain trauma.We celebrate Queen's birthday on the first Monday of June.

Thursday art

  Every week we do art with Mrs barker. She is really good at it. We are learning how blend with pastels.First we did poles and then machinery and now we are doing sea creatures. They are really cool.  

Writing sample

This week we have been doing writing samples to see what level we are in writing . If you don't know what they are keep reading. Writing samples are a choice between a narrative and a recount. Please read my paragraph.

Hello and welcome to the monster truck rally my name is Jon and my name is Jon!Get ready for a bashing and a crashing day. The first round is a stunt round were two drivers have to do there best stunts.It’s simple the audience vote and the most votes for two drivers are picked to go in all the  rounds. Ok the two drivers are (drum roll) Shane O'Connell and Barry Ferguson. Wow! Jon this is unbelievable the top two drivers are battling for the cup of monster trucks.THREE,TWO,ONE GO yells the crowd.

There of Shane starts with a ford flip triple jump then Barry Ferguson does a loopty loop back flip.(Hers a tip if you're going to this you'll need the right gear. ) Beep goes the buzzer as the clock runs out.

MDR

This week I have achieved getting 50 questions right on my MDR.I have done it by slowing down and reading the questions.I am proud of myself. Next week I am going to try and finish my work.

My favorite place is the beach. My favorite part is fishing of the rocks with my Dad. One time my Dad caught a 40 pound snapper. My favorite part was putting the bait on my rod and reeling in my big fish then cooking it for dinner.
