Current Events

An animal welfare group, Four paws, has saved two 2 year old male lions from zoos in war zones. The lions were very skinny and dehydrated. Simba was found in Mosul Zoo in Iraq and Saeed in Aleppo, Syria.

Saeed was released into a sanctuary in South Africa called Lions Rock. He had never set foot on grass before and was unsettled when he took his first steps. He was nursed back to health by the Al Mawa shelter in Jordan.

When they found Simba he was very weak and traumatised by the fighting. He too went to the Al Mawa shelter. After he gained confidence an weight he was released into Lions Rock and was greeted by lion calls.

Attitude with Lex

Today we were visited by a guy called Lex. He works for a group called Attitude.

My favourite joke/story was the one when he told us where he lived, it goes like this:
He lived in the middle of nowhere in a hippie commune. He said his parents were complete weirdo's. He said they did all of this "religious stuff" and even swam naked in a river. Then he said "I can see a few of boys at the back of the class whispering, asking each other if the know where it is."

My favourite activity is when we found out what "animal" we are. This means what personality we have. For instance I am a golden retriever, which means I find it hard to say no and I am very kind.

He came here to talk about who we are, if we could change our ways of doing stuff and our personality.

P.S
He was really funny :)

Home Time

When I get home the first thing I do Is get changed, empty my lunchbox, eat and go swimming. On other nights when I don't have swimming I read a book, play on my phone, what TV and then go to bed.

If I Were A Car

If I were a car I would be a Ford Mustang. I would be that car because it is strong, resilient and good looking I would be painted either blue or black. Here is an Image:

Beach Ed

On Wednesday 7th, Marama went to Waihi beach. When we got there the lifeguards introduced themselves. They are Nick, James, Shanae and Rakala. We learnt about rips and a lot of other beach safety rules. First we had a look around the "base", we went into the medic room and then the watch tower. After that we had morning tea.

When we had finished eating we played some beach games. The first game was seaweed, it was really fun. Then we played beach flags and I was in the top four. My favourite part was the free swim. Here are some photos.

Quote

I like this quote because when I am swimming and my muscles are burning I know I am doing it right and training hard.
