My IE Reflection

What was the most important thing you learned?:
I have learned that it wasn’t as straightforward as I thought. I thought the timeline went from Ape to man but I was wrong. I missed a whole lot of species in the middle.

What changes did you make along the way?"
I was going to do a kahoot quiz but I did an Emaze instead and it turned out great.

What was the toughest part?  How could you improve your this the next time?:
The toughest part was sharing my presentation because it was hard to control my speed and it was hard not to stumble.

What was your favourite thing about this project?:
My favourite thing about my IE was finding out all of the scientific names like Australopithecus, Homohabilis, Homoerectus and Homosaphians.

What are your next steps or new ideas for next time?:
I think I might pick an easier topic because Evolution is a pretty hard task.

My Irish Holiday #2

On the 7th of April my family and I went to Ireland .I was born in Ireland and have lived there for seven years and came to New Zealand in September 2013.

The plane from Auckland airport took off at 8:30pm for Dubai. It took about 17 hours to get there and we had a one hour layover in Dubai. From Dubai to Ireland it took just under eight hours. We flew Emirates all the way.

When we got to my Grandparents house everyone was there ready to greet us. The next day we went to Tesco to do the shopping (because we didn’t want to use Nanny and Grandads food and other stuff).

One day I went to Kbowl with my Uncle Damo. He won by 3 points. He got one strike and I nearly got one. After bowling we went upstairs to the arcade and I played this awesome car game.

I went to Blessington to get a haircut and the hairdresser remembered me from two years ago. When she was finished she said “See you in another two years.”

As a family tradition all of the Sargent’s and “the outlaws” went to Sean and Barbara's house for easter. When we got there we had an easter egg hunt. The hunt was set up in stations, so when you found a station you took one egg. I was the first one to find all of my eggs so I got the golden egg. After the hunt we had a huge easter feast.

Before we left my cousin Daniel gave me a Hurley and a Slither.

Most days I played with my cousins. I played Hurling with Daniel at his house and played with Leah and Shane at their house.

One day Damo,Leah and I went to the swimming pool at a hotel where Damo’s girlfriend Stacey was staying. We went to the pool and Stacey stayed in her room. We had a freestyle race and I won. After swimming we went for lunch at Chicken Hut.

In the last week of our holiday we went to Drogheda on Sunday night. We were planning on going to Tayto Park the next day. The next morning Mum checked the website and it said closed Mondays so we went to Dublin Zoo instead. My favorite animals were the two chimpanzees.

Winter Sport

This year I am doing soccer for my winter sport. This week was our first training. I am in 13th grade and my team is called the Ngatea Pythons. My coach’s name is Mark.

Our first game is on Saturday and it is being held in Whenuakite near Hot Water beach. We played them last season in 11th grade and we one 11-0. My position is the goalie. I have been in goal for about 2 years. This is my first season in 13th grade and I am liking it so far.

Weekly News

In November of 2011 a surfer called Garrett McNamara broke the world record of the highest wave ridden with a total height of 78 feet. But after he surfed the wave people thought that it was 90 feet but later it was confirmed and lowered to 78 feet (but 78 feet is still a lot!). The earlier world record was made by Mark Parsons in 2008 with a total height of 77 feet.

Garrett broke the world record again surfing a whopping 100 foot wave in 2013, smashing his record from 2011 by 22 feet!
